Summary

Fantastic opportunity to lead and drive Airservices engagement with our owner, the Australian Government, regulators, other government and international stakeholders.

With your service oriented, performance mindset and appetite for cultural change your new role as Head of Government, Regulatory and International Engagement based in Canberra will see you responsible for enhancing our reputation and trust with our owner, regulators, other government and international stakeholders; and supporting the whole-of-government strategic agenda for fostering civil aviation.

Travel is required for this role across operational sites and locations as and when required and your small but service-focussed team together with the backing of the Chief Customer and External Relations Officer will provide you with the support you value and need to ensure ongoing success.

Your thought leadership will encourage and build a culture of agility and continuous improvement while supporting the evolving needs of the aviation industry.

The Role & The Team

This is an opportunity to showcase your ability to enhance reputation and trust with government agencies, regulators and international stakeholders.

You will bring a deep understanding of government  and a skillset capable of developing and advising on public policy, regulatory and stakeholder strategies (aviation sector experience is a plus) to achieve Airservices corporate objectives. 

Some position specific responsibilities Include:

  • Deliver actionable insights on our political and regulatory environment 
  • Provide strategic advice and recommendations to the CEO and Executive on complex policy and regulatory issues
  • Lead the delivery of our international engagement programs
  • Drive effective strategic engagement with all relevant regulatory/oversight authorities (e.g. Department of Infrastructure, CASA, ACCC, ), focusing on shaping and influencing regulatory reform outcomes that support our strategy.
  • Liaise across Airservices to proactively identify and manage risks/issues to achieving our corporate objectives.

The Person

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in leading strategic engagement with government stakeholders
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and sustaining relationships with those in senior levels of government and ANSPs, at both a domestic and international level
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of the machinery of government, key government processes (including Cabinet and Budget) and how to influence outcomes within this environment
  • Superb communication, influencing and negotiation skills and the gravitas to foster consensus and collaborative ways of working to advance government objectives of fostering aviation
  • Knowledge and understanding of Airservices, aviation and the environment in which Airservices operates, including its stakeholders, is desirable.
